Microsoft will train 5 million Brazilians in digital skills

Good news for computer enthusiasts who want to improve their knowledge – without spending a penny – and then get a job in the area.

Microsoft and the Ministry of Economy closed a partnership to train up to 5.5 million Brazilian youth and adults by February 2023.

The idea of Escola do Trabalhador 4.0 is to offer digital skills so that these people can reintegrate into the labor market.

And it doesn't matter if they know a lot or little about computers. The target audience is workers, over 18 years old, who are looking for a job. People who want to reinvent themselves and prepare for the new demands of the job market, especially with a focus on the digital environment.

The teaching will be at a distance and the contents will be made available online, free of charge and with a certificate.

The remote learning platform was implemented in partnership with Softex and will offer several modular courses to train workers and students, especially in the Information Technology area.

There are 11 learning paths that encompass more than 45 Technology courses at different levels based on the main skills required by the job market – digital literacy to more advanced modules in cloud computing, AI and data science.

Some of the courses available are: Participate online safely and responsibly; write your first C# code; Create a simple website using HTML, CSS and JavaScript; Word; Excel; Power point; Outlook; Teams; OneNote; OneDrive and Sharepoint, among many others. (See list below)

career test

If the candidate doesn't know how to choose the most suitable course, there's no problem. The platform offers the Career Test.

Just answer a few questions, choosing “yes” and “no”.

Then the platform will be able to identify which digital skills the worker already has and cross paths with career goals. Then, based on his current knowledge and his professional aspirations, the tool will indicate the most suitable course for each individual.

The platform, open to the entire national territory, initially has 58 instructors made available by Microsoft to offer personalized guidance to up to 315,000 people. Numbers that will increase in the coming months.

Access can be done by computer, or by cell phone.

Free Student Licenses

Microsoft will also make the A1 license of Microsoft Office 365 available to all eligible enrollees.

The intention is to reinforce the mechanisms of digital inclusion and provide tools for the student to exercise the learned content.

The license gives access to applications such as Word, Excel, Outlook, Teams, PowerPoint, Sway, Forms, Planner, PowerApps, Stream, among others, as well as 10 GB of space on OneDrive.

the partnership

The partnership was closed in the first quarter between Microsoft and the Special Secretariat for Productivity, Employment and Competitiveness of the Ministry of Economy (SEPEC/ME) and “Escola do Trabalhador 4.0”.

“Given the current situation, we have to be even more assertive in our actions. We are working so that Brazil becomes increasingly digital and is prepared for the new demands of the labor market”, said the Special Secretary for Productivity, Employment and Competitiveness, Carlos Da Costa.

“Through the Microsoft Community Training platform, we will be able to impact up to 5.5 million Brazilians. I believe that initiatives like this are essential to support the country's economic recovery and Brazil's sustainable growth”, said Tânia Cosentino, president of Microsoft Brazil.

Requirements

Workers over the age of 18 can apply all over Brazil, focusing on those registered on the SINE platform – who are looking for qualification to improve their digital skills and increase their chances of re-employment.
